Synopsis
We open with Buffy unenthusiastically studying for her SAT with Giles while on nightwatch at the graveyard. “This isn’t supposed to be easy, you know,” Giles says. “It’s a rite of passage.”
The Mayor of the Hellmouth has yet another meeting with Fixit vampire Mr. Trick. Seems Sunnydale has a demon problem and the town must pay a tribute. Mr. Trick has jst the connection to make it happen.
With two days to go, the slayer gang lament the coming of the SATs, except Cordelia, who does well on standardized tests. “Come on. I can’t have layers?” But between now and then, they all have a new job: the band needs money for uniforms (Xander: “Those tall, furry hats don’t come cheap.”) and they’re pressed into selling candy bars.
Buffy’s mom buys twenty, bless her, but won’t go for the apotheosis that would come of letting Buffy drive. (They slayer failed her written exam and still lacks a license.) Mom still has issues about runaway Buffy, anyway, so she’s tugging the strings a little hard.
So is Giles.
